Chegadão (pronounced kind of like “Shake It Down,” which seems to fit their music) was formed in 2008 by Marcio Pereira and Scott Myers, as a way to bring a wider range of funky, interesting Brazilian music to New Orleanian audiences.
These guys have brought their authentic Brazilian sounds — Forró, Samba, Funk, Bossa-Nova, Maracatú and more — to the city, helping New Orleanians encounter a whole new world of rhythm, much of which has many similarities to the funky New Orleans sound.
With Marcio now back in his native Salvador, Brazil, the band consists of Eduardo Tozzatto (Keyboards/Vocals), Tedo Oliviera (Percussion/Vocals), Scott Myers (Guitar), Tommy Sciple (Bass), Brent Rose (Saxophone) and Nick Solnick (Drums). They played Louisiana Bucket Brigade’s holiday party last year at the Dragon’s Den and had the whole crowd out on the dance floor.
Chegadão will take the stage at 12:50pm on Earth Day!
